There are three ways of working with the grades of the Hermetic Sanctuary
of Maat:
1. Membership into the Ordo Stella Matutina through Temple
Initiation.
Members who join the Ordo Stella Matutina through initiation in one of our
local temples can access their grade curriculum and the related multimedia
files, participate in our scheduled online classes and grade discussion forums,
check their mastery of the grade curriculum through our online quizzes, and
take the knowledge portion of their advancement examinations in the HSoM.
2. Distance Members and Solitary Practitioners
Solitary practitioners and members at a distance who cannot travel to one
of our local temples to receive physical initiations can access their grade
curriculum and related multimedia files, participate in our scheduled online
classes and grade discussion forums, check their mastery of the grade curriculum
through our online quizzes, and take their advancement examinations in the
HSoM. For more information about Self-Initiation into the Golden Dawn Tradition
please visit the Self-Initiation website.
3. Associate Temple Members
The Ordo Stella Matutina has partnered with several Associate Temples and
Orders worldwide to use our online curriculum and testing system for their
own membership. We have no control over these orders and have no desire to
control their activities. We provide this as a gesture of goodwill to the
greater occult community.
The key differences between the different membership paths are as follows:
-
Solitary practitioners start their path at the Probationary grade. This grade
prepares the candidate of Self-Initiation by providing instruction on the
techniques needed to perform the solitary initiation rituals.
-
Solitary practitioners must perform the Self-Initiation rituals as described
in the âSelf-Initiation into the Golden Dawn
Traditionâ book by Sandra Tabatha and Chic Cicero.
-
Solitary practitioners receive an Official Certificate of Completion for
successful completion of the grade requirements and advancement examinations.
-
Ordo Stella Matutina members receive an Official Grade Certificate which
signifies that they have completed the grade advancement requirements and
received the temple initiation for the grade.
-
Because there is absolutely no possibility that one can initiate oneself
into the Inner Order, solitary practitioners must visit one of our local
temples to receive all of their physical initiations from 0=0 to Portal before
becoming eligible to submit their advancement requirements into the grade
of Adeptus Minor (5=6).
-
Additional examinations may be required from the solitary member to ensure
that the student has mastered the outer order grades before they can be
considered for advancement into the Inner Order.
-
Under normal circumstances there is no grade reciprocity between the Ordo
Stella Matutina and the Associate Temples that use our curriculum but students
from other associate temples may join as a regular member through additional
testing and going through the necessary temple initiations. We will need
a letter of recommendation from the associate temple before we will consider
any kind of grade reciprocity.
An Invitation
The Hermetic Sanctuary of Ma'at: Ordo Stella Matutina invites you to submit
your application for admission to membership so that you may study and practice
those Higher Laws of the Cosmic, both for your own benefit and that of humanity,
and join the Great Work.
The HSoM always gives the best of its knowledge to its members and for that
reason the membership includes the best of its teachings.
If you honestly aspire to the inner knowledge given by the Golden Dawn, you
may request admission as an aspirant to the Inner Light.
We do not care about the applicant's position or honors. Nor do we care about
their race, sex, religion, or political ideas. We are only interested in
knowing that they consider themselves worthy of accepting the secular and
timeless wisdom of the Golden Dawn.
If this is the case, we will open the portals of our Temple to those who
wish admission. You will be received as someone who wants their name written
in the register of sincere seekers for whom the Rose Cross is something more
than just a symbol, but rather a state of being that one strives for.
Membership Donations
All organizations, to be able to exist and provide members the facilities
and attention that they require, needs sufficient funds for its maintenance;
this is such an evident truth that you will understand perfectly that members
of the HSoM help to do this through their annual donations.
The HSoM as an organization, is dependent upon the individual, that is, our
Fraters and Sorors, for its economic existence. The donations the member
pays are the very basis of the Order's income. The Sanctuary has been subject
to increasing costs and needs to keep pace with the times. For the last two
and a half years, the HSoM has been confronted with the burden of increased
internet costs and other materials essential to serving its members without
the help of any membership dues. But, now as we have stated, the basic economic
support for HSoM is the Annual donations. Consequently, Fraters and Sorores,
there is no other alternative but to ask you for a nominal membership donatoion
fee. HSoM has, during these past years, absorbed all the cost to which it
has been subjected, but such is no longer possible. The nominal donations
will go into effect July 1, 2005. Kindly bear with us in meeting this situation.
These donations finance the expenses incurred in the preparation of the teachings
to our members and Study Groups, Online Resources, and other services provided
to our members.
We all know that nobody can charge or pay for knowledge, but if an organization
does not posses sufficient means, it cannot transmit the knowledge to those
who desire it and who, due to their dedication and effort, deserve to have
it.
On the other hand, it is also certain that we only appreciate that which
we secure by exerting an effort. The Golden Dawn's teachings are far too
important to be denied the value they deserve.
For these reasons members of the HSoM is asked to help offset these expenses
with an Annual Donation of $36.00 when joining.
In this way, not only does the Temple sustain itself, but also keeps away
the simply curious who would indulge their idleness at the expense of
others.
